Dental InsuranceDental Insurance is typically offered as a benefit through a sponsoring employer. Although it is possible to attain Dental Insurance as an individual, this type of coverage is typically rare. If you would like more information on Individual Dental Insurance please contact our office.
On the Group side, many employers offer Dental coverage on a 100% participatory or a voluntary basis. 100% participatory means all employees are covered under the dental insurance plan and the employer may require the employee to make a contribution towards the premium. A voluntary plan would allow employees, who wish to have dental coverage, elect coverage and pay the premium themselves, on a pre-tax payroll deduction basis. A typical plan would allow $1000 in annual benefits, typically covering basic services at 100% and additional services at a lesser percentage with an annual deductible. Once the maximum claims limit of $1000 is reached, the carrier would pay no benefits until the next calendar year. You may elect higher annual maximums. An additional benefit is employees may be able to get in-network rates for services. Typically, in-network rates are substantially lower and the annual dollar benefits would last longer. Some carriers provide unlimited benefits for in-networks services on certain types of benefits. | Disability InsuranceDisability Insurance is also offered on a Group and Individual basis. Disability Insurance gives you dollars if you are sick or injured and unable to work. This money may be used to pay bills such as your mortgage, your utilities, car payments, etc. An Individual may obtain Disability coverage without involving their employer. This individual coverage is often very customizable, extremely flexible, and can be guaranteed renewable with the premium guaranteed for the term of the policy. Some of the finest disability coverage available is offered on an individual non-employer basis.
Group coverage is also available for Disability Insurance. Short Term Disability typically covers an individual at a percentage of their net pay for up to 26 weeks. Long Term Disability would be an additional coverage and an additional policy, which typically would cover someone up to age 65. Often Group disability coverage offered through an employer is bundled together with Life Insurance and Dental Coverage, which may be offered on either a Group Employer Sponsored Basis or an Employee Pay All on a pre-tax payroll deduction.
